The Payne County Audubon Society is looking for photos (possibly yours!) to be highlighted in a ‘Birds of Payne County’ 2022 wall calendar. The calendar will feature not only birds photographed in Payne County, but also various birding locations around the county.
Proceeds from both the contest and calendar sales will help PCAS support research, schools, libraries, and various educational programs.
Deadline for all submissions is October 1, 2021
For each selected photo, photographers will receive a $5 gift card to a local establishment (TBA!) and a free calendar ($20 value), with the option of purchasing additional calendars at a discounted rate.
Cost of Entry
- First photo entry is free of charge!
- Photos 2-9 are $5 per photo.
- 10 photos: $45 (photo number 11 is $45 + $5 for each additional photo up to 19)
- 20 photos: $85 (photo number 21 is $85 + $5 for each additional photo up to 29)
- 30 photos: $120 (photo number 11 is $120 + $5 for each additional photo)
How to Enter
Step 1: Label your file(s) using the following convention: “Last name_first initial_entry type (bird/location)_date (month-year).” Examples are listed in the Contest Rules section, below.
Step 2: Email your photos to firstname.lastname@example.org Don’t forget to include “Photo Contest Entry” at the beginning of the subject line!
Step 3: If submitting more than one photo, pay via Paypal by selecting Donate on this page, or mail us a check, payable to Payne County Audubon Society, PO Box 82, Stillwater, OK 74076. The first photo is free!

The purpose of this photo contest is to find local examples of great bird photography to feature in the PCAS ‘Birds of Payne County’ 2022 wall calendar. We are excited to highlight local photographers photographing local birds!
Location & Timeline
Please submit photos that have been taken in Payne County, Oklahoma, in the past three years (2019-2021).
Label your file(s) using the following convention: “Last name_first initial_entry type (bird/location)_date (month-year).”
Thus, a file of a Painted Bunting take in July of 2020 by Joan Smith would be labeled: Smith_J_bird_07-2020. A photo of Couch Park taken in January of 2021 by Matt Jones would be labeled: Jones_M_location_01-2021.
Copyright and Use
Copyright remains with the photographer. By entering, photographers agree to allow PCAS administrators to publish their images on the website, on social media, and to use them in promotions for this and future contests with appropriate credit. Each image must be the work of the person entering it. By submitting a photograph to PCAS you warrant that you are the sole copyright holder of the image.

An independent panel of judges will rate photos on their aesthetic beauty, composition, overall impact, originality, style, depiction of species/landscapes and relevance to birding in Payne County.
